About

I currently work as a Staff Data Science Engineer at a consultancy that specializes in measuring marketing effectiveness.

Prior to this I spent five years as an independent consultant and trainer. Within consulting I focused on projects that were based on choroplethr, my open source framework for mapping demographic statistics in R. Within training I specialized in introductory R training.

Prior to that I spent five years working as a software engineer at two successful startups in San Francisco: Trulia and HubPages. There I used PHP and SQL to both implement new website features and measure their impact.

Prior to that I spent five years working as a software engineer at Electronic Arts. There I used C++ to implement gameplay logic on the hit game Spore.

Prior to that I was a PhD student in the College of Computer Science at Georgia Tech. I researched the applications of Artificial Intelligence to videos games. I dropped out of the program to work on Spore.
